JDK Cleaning Lends Commercial Van to Local Food Bank

JDK Cleaning is offering support in the form of a van to the team at the team at Canolfan y Bont  who are running the Pontarddulais Area food bank for local families in need and vulnerable people.

The centre in Dulais Road has been particularly busy over the past few weeks and so contacted local commercial cleaning company, JDK Cleaning, to carry out a deep sanitisation clean.  When MD, Jack Kelleher who is from Pontarddulais himself, saw the work the centre was doing, he came up with the suggestion of lending the centre one of his commercial vans.

Says Jack, “We’ve been carrying out a high number of sanitisation cleans over the past month and we have the luxury of having one of our vans on standby to cover emergency work.  When I found out that the people working at the Canolfan y Bont were using their own vehicles to deliver food to local people who are either isolating or in need, offering them the use of our spare van was a no brainer!  We’ll be lending the vehicle to the centre for a month with the possibility of extending the offer longer term if required.

“As a local company, and as I have many family members still living in the area, this is a great opportunity for me personally to support the work of the Canolfan y Bont team in the amazing work they do on a daily basis.”

Commenting on this gesture by JDK Cleaning, Alison Wilson from the centre said, “We were thrilled when Jack offered us the use of one of his vans to deliver food parcels across the Pontarddulais Area.  It will make a huge difference to the area we can cover and the amount of food parcels we will be able to deliver in one go.  So, we’d like to extend a huge thanks to Jack and the team at JDK Cleaning which is an example of a local company giving back to the local community which has supported the business over the years.”

In addition to lending the van, Jack has also made a substantial food donation to the food bank too.
